The Mayflower, Rotherhithe

lovely pub - as lovely as it was four decades ago. Clientele different, of course, but beer and food are excellent. The staff here endeavour to serve their customers. Will accept advice if unsure about a drink: e.g. my regular black and tan order. Does crowd out in the evening with the dinkies.

Spice Island, Rotherhithe

This pub is a pastiche, but fine until I asked for my regular drink, a "black and tan" - told that "we don't serve mixed drinks" - this after the new owners personally invited me to the official opening. Never again will I darken their doors, nor will friends I previously invited to have a drink and a meal there - averaging 3 or 4 drinkers and diners weekly.
