The Duke of Cumberland, Henley

As a Henley resident of long standing and editor of the complimentary Duke webpage (sponsored by Violet Designs) I can vouch for the stratospheric increase in popularity of the pub in the last 18 months or so, with the lane filled with cars on weekends, especially on fine summer lunch times and evenings. It has definitely been 'discovered' by a 'smart set' and lots of others, the food being praised to the skies. Let's hope it remains that way. So many other pubs for miles around have a chequered record, often starting well but failing to maintain standards.
A word of advice: in really busy times the lane is a nigtmare for parking and those who drop their cars in the constricted space opposite Old Smugglers (below the pub) are asking for their wing mirrors to be demolished. You'd be surprised at the pieces of 'instant sculpture' I've seen of late!

The Duke of Cumberland, Henley

Further to my recent post, here is a page on the Duke of Cumberland Pub which spells out in detail its history, food style, gardens and accessibility to fabulous mountain-biking teritory (and walking).
This page has several biking routes which if consulted together with the local Landranger Map makes for easy planning.
There are routes from Midhurst, Cocking, Fernhurst, Blackdown and Linchmere.
To find the page go to Google and type in DUKE OF CUMBRLAND PUB HENLEY.
