The Chequers Inn, Battle

Visited on a sunday afternoon - they seemed to have run out of a lot of things, and there was only one ale on (Harvey's) but the food was delicious. Service was friendly although it seems to be family-run so I suspect it varies greatly depending on who you get. Certainly better than the other options in Battle!

The Two Sawyers, Pett

Pretty pub with a good selection of ales. Food looked good but a bit pricey - didn't seem to be putting anyone off though. Found the staff busy (it was a saturday night) but polite and didn't get any funny looks from the locals as other reviewers have mentioned, despite being covered in mud!
