Been to a couple of quiz nights here. Beer is not the cheapest in Horley, but it was s pleasant enough experience. Ventured in once at lunchtime to find one customer and the place stank of bleach.

Dearest beer in all of Horley. Ok if you can stand Hall and Woodhouse. Not the place to take a lady unless you tolerate the foul language around the bar. Far better to go to the Old Six Bells.

Hall and Woodhouse. First Gold, Tanglefoot, Sussex and Firkin Fox. Quiet on a Saturday afternoon, racing on TV and music playing. Large main bar, area to the left is separated off. Seems ok.

Well done to the Gatwick, just won the following award.

"The annual awards are open to the brewers' tenanted estate of pubs and are judged across eight categories. The Gatwick is run by Adrian and Carol Beer, and is their first venture in the pub trade".

I have been attending the gatwick quizzing for years. Ithink the newlandlord is trying very hard to make the pub cater for all tastes. Unfortnately after this eveningneither me nor my quizzing team will set foot in the pub again. The landlord has gone on holiday and left anarrogant rude drunk in chargeof the quizzing. He insulted the team and me personally publically and when I asked for our snowball money back as we were not prepared to stay and be spoken to like that he threw the money down at me and went onthe mike to further insult us saying we didn't know how to enjoy ourselves etc... We left and will not return. I will speakto Adrian about tonight but the bad taste will remain for a long time.

Visited again and would concede that this pub has found its level - sadly not a high one. My last posting - I will not visit again

Decent pub grub and three ales from Hall & Woodhouse got my vote. Different football games on the two telly's was good and they weren't obtrusive for those not interested in that sort of thing.

Use this pub occasionally and find it a decent local boozer.
The landlord is trying with live music, poker nights etc. From my own personal experience I have not had any problems with drunks etc as mentioned in other posts.

I went in again at around 4pm last Sunday afternoon and was appalled by the drunken, loud nonentities who packed the place, many of them obviously spoiling for a fight. As the previous reviewer noted, the bar staff were only too pleased to keep serving them despite their state. I didn't stay and it just goes to show that you need several visits at different times of the day and week to really judge a pub.

Good selection of beers and lagers. Probably the best pub in Horley, very local clientele and generally friendly. Good staff but need to stop serving people who have had too much to drink. Has garden and good heating with gazebo, unfortunately not much sun due to adjacent high building. Has regular live entertainment but need to ditch the disco.

Well kept beer and a hidden beer garden was a nice surprise this summer. Had a pint of Hopping Hare and it was sublime in the sun. Doesn't get busy during the day but does seem full of regulars who give ypu a bit of eyeing up thus making you not feel so welcome.

Horley's best pub by a very long chalk. Superbly kept beers, excellent and reasonably priced home-cooked food and a warm, friendly ambience. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Top pub. Really good Hall & Woodhouse beers. Looks like an old "bar and lounge" place which has been converted into open plan but still with dividing partitions if you get my drift. Excellent for sport having two TVs in differently partitioned area which CAN show two different events which is quite rare in my experience. Didn't try the food. And the landlord is an Argyle fan which moves it from an 8.5 to a 9. Not much of a town Horley, but this pub is one of the better bits

visited this pub friday 19th december with my husband after visiting relatives. The pub was extremley busy at lunchtime, food came very quickly and it was home made english food. eg cottage pie and steak and ale.Food excellant, beer good, Staff very friendly. We shall return.

Good place to go at lunch time: food is decent and reasonably priced and you get real ale; an dit has a pub fel abut it rather than one of the new flash bars/bistros popping up. I missed the bar man on my last visit - he was always friendly and a twinkle in his eye. New staff not so yet, but give them time.

Old school boozer with a oldish crowd of locals, a decent range of beers and reasonable food. Overall, a bit chavvy but you could do worse in Horley.

Not the best pub I've ever been in but good by Horley standards and tons better than it was 20 years ago it was a real hole then. A nice pint of export, sky sports and won �50 out the bandit which gives it an extra point

this pub is one of the best pubs i have ever been to in my life when i went in there ther was loveley managers in ther and friendly atmosphere.i think the pub is a good and friendly pub and i would recomend it to everyone.i dont know why the anonoymous person has said this but it is a very nice pub!!!!! xx

Only went in here once. A man and woman started fighting, my brother in law, the foolish gent, tried to step in to stop the girl getting a shiner and all the rest of their family piled in and i got a couple of cracked ribs. My brother in law ended up in hospital. we havenet been back since. has it got any better.

Ex-King & Barnes, now Hall & Woodhouse. Standard issue pub - stripped pine tables, dark floral carpets, faux olde worlde wood fittings... but a good local feel: the amateur dramatic society practising in the corner, the farmer chatting with the football supporter, the old man calling out cheerfully to the youngster just coming in... Four Badger cask and 2 Badger keg lagers. I had the Sussex - fresh and lively. A decent enough pub. Probably the best in what appears to be a pub starved town.
