Went once, but very easy to forget.

As has been said a very boring unimaginative choice of real ales.
One real cider Black rat.
Staff efficient.
Ok but certainly would not be my first port of call in this area.

Proper pub, watched the rugby here last two weekends - great atmosphere. Excellent pint of Doombar, three other real ales on tap and a few ciders. Very busy but good friendly service, didn't have to wait and got a smile from the staff every time!

Found this after walking the gorge and climbing up to the Clifton suspension bridge - so very thirsty. We had the Butcombe which was on form, and a very tasty goat's cheese and mushroom sandwich, which I thought was good value. Rest of the menu looked interesting too. Otherwise, decor and beer selection not very inspiring.

Good reliable beer but as has been said - an uninspiring selection

This is probably the most unspoilt pub in Clifton village, in fact you could almost imagine you were in a country pub somewhere. So if you'd like a change from all the other pubs that seem to have been "done up" recently, and in the process lost much of their character, give this a go.
Very quiet on a recent Thursday night, but I've been in here before on a weekend and it's been packed. Bigger than it lokks from the outside with a decent sized seating area towards the back.
Four beers on tap, although a fairly unadventurous selection - Butcombe, Courage Best, London Pride and Doom Bar. A couple of decent ciders though, Thatcher's Gold, Thatchers Pear and Moles Black Rat.

Not a very exciting range of ale from this GBG listed pub, but a very quaffable pint of doom was supped all the same, 6/10

I nearly walked by ,and afterwards I wish I had . A very male pub , very masculine , I think the only women in there were the barmaid's . a large choice cider , but was disapointed with the real ale , Doombar , London Pride , not there's anything wrong these , but this is a pub with a good reputation , so expectancy was high . Disapointing .

I nearly walked by, but was glad that I didn't. Nice friendly pub, with a good 'local' atmosphere. Recommended.

A really nice traditional pub. Beer and conversation are the thing here ; there is a friendly atmosphere and the place has a comfortable, lived-in feel about it. Good Sharp's, Courage and Bass; a lively, mixed clientele, with rugby a prominent feature.
