Visited this pub the other day for the first time in 26 years.......yep, it's changed! This once village boozer is now a fully fledged 'eating house' offering accommodation. It has been done up to a very nice standard and offers good food. For all of this it has lost a lot of it's charm, but i guess pubs must change with the times or, ultimately, 'die'. If you've never been It's worth a visit, but I wont go out of my way to visit again.

called in here because it was advertised off the A303. stood by the bar for 10 minutes or so while the bar staff faffed around taking someones card. told to SIT ! ordered my beer sitting down, a novel experience some 20 minutes after entering the pub. a few customers around the pub dressed in those chinos you can buy in the Saturday telegraph at 2 for £50. I mean, what are men doing wearing pink trews anyway ? ordered the guest beer, one tonic and ice, a burger with a quaint tin bucket of chips ( 3 inches tall) and a small portion of hummus, 10 olives in their own kilner jar and a folded toasted chapatti. total bill of £26.50. well excuse my French..............but WHAT? shan't be returning.

Note that this pub is not in Somerton at all, but is in Babcary, a village a few miles away.

Nice pub. Nicely refurbished. Good, choice of well kept ales. Food was hit and miss. My pork belly was lovely whilst the steak pie not so. Ice cream to die for.
Would definately go back. Would be nice to spend an afternoon here.

Popped in our way home from Glastonbury, very friendly, allowed our friends dogs in! The food was excellent, couldn't rate the beer as I was driving but it appears to be a very pleasant pub. Shame it doesn't do accomodation as we would use it as a base, the girls going to Glastonbury and us off to play golf.

I used to be a regular before I moved away; however despite the new owners changing emphasis to "Gastro", it's still not a bad boozer. There's an eclectic bunch of regulars 3 real ales and apparently the previous landlord occasionally pops-in to check the beer quality. I do think that it deserves a better score than the present 4.5 - so I'm going to boost it with a score of 7.

Nicely done out village pub, a bit poncy. Trying to be gastro but not quite making it. No real identity.
Needs to find its identity.

good location, nicely re-furbished, was a great beer pub, now gastro-concentrated.....with an occasional good pint.
pleasant summer garden, friendly staff, usually absent Landlord.
could be loads better.
