After visiting the Vale on several occasions i have always been impressed with the quality of both the food and the service. being a bit of a fussy eater i was quite surprised when i opened up the menu and found several dishes that i instantly liked the sound of. having been several times now and having tried almost everything i will eat off the menu i can say i have never been let down once. aside from the food there is a brillant atmosphear in the bar, with friendly locals and comfortable surroundings. There is also a brilliant selection of ales which on my last visit were all local.

All in all an excelent pub thats well worth a visit

What a great pub and just a fantastic location, especially on those few lovely hot summer evenings sitting out on the terrace overlooking the lake.... Lovely villagy feel, and some great local characters.

Further to my earlier post need to mention the 5 curries on Thursdays - they were fantastic the last two Thursdays. Beer very good as well - the English Rose from Cotswold Spring Brewery was excellent if you like them pleasantly hoppy as I do. Normally have four local real ales on the go. Should like to add I am not connnected with the pub in any way, just working in the area again but know a good pub when I see one.

Returned to the Vale this week after working away for a while and pleased to note it appears as good as before. Not sure about previous posters experience but did not witness any of the reported problems. Had 4 different real ales on tap with a local bias, which is most welcome these days. Beers I tried were in good order. Food was very good and they are doing 5 specials for the thrifty. Atmosphere was OK - always locals putting the world to right but friendly pub overall.

The vale looks like a great venue, outside and in, unfortunately its an absolute shambles. The manager, or owner possibly, is a complete nightmare, he is rude to staff, drinks beer while he is working and to top it sells cloudy, undrinkable beer. The day after visiting the premises, I felt like i was dropping a baby elephant in the lavvy. Even more upsetting, I never tried the food. Has CAMRA rated the beer? - I doubt it. When returning the beer to tell staff it is no good, they are told by the ruddy faced manager that they cannot exchange or refund as it is of good quality (I witnessed this)- Has the manager tasted the ale, doubt it! The staff are the best part of this establishment, it is ashame the management do not see this. I am actually quite experienced in the licenced trade and was appalled at the running of this venue - apparently a manager is coming in, hurrah for him, hope you can turn this god awful business around.
