One to go out of your way for. Excellent Derbyshire pub in a beautiful location.

Popped in on 16 March. This is the best pub I've visited so far this year. The young lady behind the bar has positively ordered me to come back. Look forward to doing so next time I'm in the area.

I sat outside on a pleasant summer's evening, and there was something of a cameo, as a shiny car swept into the car park and a very apparently self-confident young blonde lady trotted up to the pub, breezing among the customers, provoking some to remark it seemed she thought she owned the place.

It turned out she was, however, the landlord's then new girlfriend, I was told.

Food and beer seemed good and unaffected by this though.

Excellent pub just a short bus ride from Cromford. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beer spot on, food untested. Seems to be a thriving local and long may that continue. 10/10

We arrived dripping wet & muddy from a walk along the Limestone Way. Their Easter weekend beer and music festival was well underway. The beers were in excellent condition with a great range and friendly advice. The pub is rooted in its community, seemed to suit all ages and gave youngsters a great opportunity to play a set. The food was burgers and chips compared to their usual extensive menu. The pub is alive & well as a concept in Bonsall. Friendly chat to one & all. They deserve to do well.

Made to feel very welcome on Halloween night party. Landlady led band which was the entertainment for the evening. Was it good? oh yes-- we had a cracking night and the place was full of characters. Everyone was soooo friendly and I would recomend it to anyone. Quirky but fun.

This is the sort of pub you hope to find in the country rather than all those olde English, over priced, barely tolerant of passing trade places. Not a wide selection of beers but the Whim Hartington was very drinkable. Went in with my kids and made to feel welcome. The food was well priced and the portions enormous (partly as an apology for being a little slow in coming).
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. And an annual hen race.

This is a great looking pub from the outside. The interior is desceptively small with only around 5-6 tables. The landlady was extremely friendly. As were the rest of the staff. We had a couple of the chip butties which went down quite well. Only one real ale was on - Whim Hartington Bitter. Outdoor toilets when it is -4 outside are not ideal!

The ale is still excellent. I thoroughly recommend this pub!

Popped in one quiet lunchtime, the Hartington was slightly off but no quibbles and it was changed. Simple hearty lunch and a nice atmosphere with the locals very friendly and on good terms with landlord.

Would definitely use again when next in the village.

Called into this friendly local while doing Good Beer Guide pubs in the area, and we were tempted by the menu as well as enjoying their beer.

Landlord and landlady (Alan & Ann) always friendly and welcoming. Beer kept well (mostly Hartington Bitter and Abbott Ale). Music night every Saturday - get in early to be sure of a seat.
Welcomes hikers (no need to remove boots) but not dogs
