| Opposite the Black Bull this no nonsense Inn does excellent food and a nice pint of Jennings Cumberland as well as a house beer from Hawkshead. I had the steak pie;, homemade, crammed with tender beef with plenty of veg for under £10. Would rate as 6/10 for beer and 8/10 for food so overall mark is inbetween. | After a lovely 16 mile hike over Scafell, 12 showered and re-shod hungry hikers descended on this no nonsense, clean, warm and friendly inn for good beer and hearty food to satisfy any palate (the Windermere blonde went down well – if you know what I mean) Cheers! cns61 - 10 May 2011 12:58 |
