Community-run since 2009 and, if our visit was anything to go by, doing well. Tasty scrumpy and a range of real ales, attractive pub and setting, friendly atmosphere and the food looked good. Regular folk music events.

Doing well under new, young licensees. Well-regarded locally for its food.

The Willeymoor Lock Tavern, Tushingham
Good location, nice interior, decent range of beers. Food seemed OK, a little on the "cheap and cheerful"side maybe. We sampled the ham sandwiches: good ham, but sliced (brown) bread.

Only a brief stop while out walking, but seemed like a well-run place. Good chicken baguette (crisp salad, home-made coleslaw) and roast beef sandwich, nicely decorated, immaculate toilets, well-kept garden. Seems mainly food-oriented but there is a small bar area and the beer was good.

Popped in for a drink at the end of a walk. Two real ales on offer when we were there. Decent pint, great building, well-kept garden (shame it's next to a main road), so no complaints - however, we didn't sample the food so can't comment on that score. Has a large car park (with overflow).

The Bells of Peover, Lower Peover
Seems that things have changed at the Bells since the last reviews were written. Although we didn't eat, we popped in for a drink after a walk yesterday and anything less like a "chain pub" would be hard to find. It now has an upmarket gastropub feel and the food looked extremely good, a little fussy even, and with prices to match. Slightly brisk and impersonal service at the bar, but I suspect they were busy: my partner had a (very good) cappuccino and I had a reasonable pint of Robinson's XB. Lovely location.
