A pretty good Slug & Lettuce. Very smoky, plenty of space and seating, typical chain food and a lively atmosphere. Good bar for a weekend afternoon.

Grim little beard-hole that invariably stinks of cheap cigars. Poor beer, no room to sit, stand or lean. Terrible service. "Reading's best kept secret"? For a reason, i'd say.

Very bizarre bar, this. From the outside it looks like a crazy hip-hop joint. Inside it is always empty. Absolutely no-one there. Really useful for a quiet game of pool, but zero atmosphere. I still go there for the pool, though.

Decent bar. Lovely for a mid-week evening drink. Gets very busy on the weekends. The food and beer are overpriced, and the service isn't exactly rushed, but the choice and quality is there. Don't come here expecting a pub or a quick meal. But do try it.

An excellent little local. Always got customers, always happy and lively, and usually a table free. The beer is standard fare and the music is at a low level. They do a fantastic quiz on Sunday evenings... the place is rammed for that.

The Guildhall Tavern, Winchester
Although this isn't the classiest place in Winchester, it is perfectly serviceable pub. Big screen, Sky TV, and better than expected food.
