The Fleece Inn, Bretforton

One of the best pubs in the country. Sympathetically restored after the devastating fire, as mentioned by previous reviewers - thank goodness we didn't lose this diamond!

A lovely building, nice grounds, nice atmosphere, good food and last but not least - great beer.

Can this be bettered? I don't think so, hence my 10/10 score.

Via Fossa, Canary Wharf

Most of my office leaving do's are held here - more's the pity. Over-priced, poor service, loud & full of posers drinking posey drinks. I wouldn't dare bring my husband here - he'd divorce me on the spot!

The Arden Arms, Stockport

A very interesting pub, well worth a detour to visit. My husband enjoyed the beers served in here - they certainly seem well-kept. Top marks to the bar staff who remember details - despite being on our first visit, when I bought a second round, the barman remembered I didn't take ice in my drink. Such a refreshing change from the numerous places where the staff automatically ask if you want ice but don't bother listening to your answer. Only a little thing I know, but its the small details that go towards making a great pub - which the Arden Arms is.

Plough, Dartford

I used to be a regular at this pub, when it had bar staff & management that stayed longer than a month. Since then, it has slid downhill constantly. I recently had to go through 5 alternatives before finding one they had in stock (& I was only looking for a basic drink, nothing fancy). The food has also gone from having a reasonable menu to burger & chips as the special of the day, & more recently to "Kitchen closed". This is likely to be the fate of the pub itself if it doesn't improve soon, as I am sure I'm not alone in losing my patience with this establishment.

The King and Keys, Fleet Street

I must say I am quite surprised by the reviews which say the staff are friendly, as I found them to be quite patronising to the point of rudeness. As others have recently mentioned, this is possibly the most expensive pub in the area, but is really nothing special to make up for the high prices. A few nice original features, but too cramped to really be comfortable. There are far nicer pubs within the immediate vicinity, so I doubt I will make a return visit.
