The Boot Inn, Willington

Found the Boot Inn by chance sometime back. A favourite place for an early evening meal. Often busy with local and visitors, with a choice of tables along side the bar, around the fire or at the back in a larger room. Fantastic menu, and really good beer. Staff helpful and friendly. Worth booking a table for food if visiting at a weekend.

The Globe Inn, Nantwich

A really good all round pub on the outskirts of Nantwich, but within easy walking distance. Fantastic food and great beer selection. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Would recommend a visit.

The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow

Seeing reviews on BITE we visited to sample the Feathers.

Warm, friendly welcome. 3 ale available. Tasters offered. Service good. All ale well kept and served.

In a nutshell previous positive posts seem fair and right. To be honest, the Feathers has been the best experience for us this weekend.

Beer prices are OK, but even better for us they have recently dropped them as part of an event!

Worth a visit.

The Marches, Ludlow

Choice of 3 ale, all OK. Service as OK, but soon got tired of being asked if we were eating/wanted anything else. Nothing special but passable.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Told this was the place for real ale in Ludlow. We discovered a good selection of beers, some local. Tried a pint of Wye Valley and Ludlow Gold. Both good. Like the idea of a tasting bat -3 x 1/3 of a pint tasters.

Service was a bit poor, as the bar seems left unattended quite a bit whilst staff take phone calls/chat etc.

Definitely worth a visit if your in Ludlow.

The Rose and Crown, Ludlow

Nearly missed this place. Slightly tucked away. Entrance to the pub isn't so appealing, but once inside it's like going back in time. Very old. Real ale served, but to be honest, not the best pints we've ever had! Staff don't seem very happy either.

The Globe, Ludlow

Not the most exciting place I've been. Unfortunately only one real ale on. Seems more a wine bar than beer venue. Staff friendly however.

The Queens, Ludlow

Visiting for the weekend, had the Queens recommended to us. Pleasant enough pub, much bigger inside than it appears from the street. Seems geared more for food, but discovered decent beer. Particularly enjoyed Butty Bach, which went down well. Sadly the girl behind the bar was a bit lacking in her welcome/attention.

The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury

Found this by accident! Seems very old, with lots of character. Great selection of ale. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Apparently this was one of the original no smoking pubs before the ban. Well worth finding for a visit.

The Wheatsheaf, Shrewsbury

Was recommended The Wheatsheaf by a local. Regretfully a poor suggestion. Beer average, staff bored and uninterested. Reasonably comfortable place, but there are better.

The Brewery Tap, Chester

Good selection of ale, served well. Interesting place with friendly helpful staff. Prices a little high but worth a visit.
