The Pride of Paddington, Paddington

I agree with previous comments. I usually use the Mad Bishop when in Paddington but it was closed for a refurb. Thought I'm try this place but what a mistake
paying 3.90 for a pint of Deuchars. I also tried the house beer from Caledonian which wasn't any good. Food was also a rip-off with a very poor quality (cheap ham) sandwich for 6. Best going to Marks and Spencer instead!

The Barrels, Hereford

Concur with recent comments. Good to see the full range of Wye Valley all in good form. Seems to be the real ale mecca for Hereford as full of aleheads. Probably the only pub worth visiting for real ale in Hereford centre.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

My first time in Ludlow and I hoped for a good pub. I was not dissapointed by the Church. 10 ales on tap in superb condition include 9 local beers - 2 from Wye Valley including the excellent HPA, Hobson's town crier was excellent as was ludlow gold, other beers included Six Bells, more Hobson's and Ludlow as a well as a Dark Star. An exception range for a small town and the food - pie - was also excellent. Service was very good and the opening hours were impressive - until midnight. Dogs were welcomed and the atmosphere was what you expect from a brilliant pub.

The Old Bank of England, Fleet Street

One of the better Fullers pubs in london with a good selection of ales including the seasonal. First pint of red fox this season and was on top form. Food also very good. As with most fuller's pubs it is expensive (food and beer) but well worth an occasional visit.

The Walrus and Carpenter, Monument

Have visited this Nicholson's pub several times and each time have been extremelt dissapointed. The selection is good but service is very slow - even when not busy (have had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be served). You always need to ask for a top up as you usually get 3/4 pint. Pity because the building is very nice. Avoid this pub if you can -worth walking to the Hung Drawn and Quartered or any other Nicholson's or spoons pub in the area.

The Church House Inn, Rattery

I have been a regular visitor with family for some years. The beer selection is very good with Jail Ale and Legend (Princetown Brewery) usually on plus Otter and I other (usually from the Fullers/Gales range). The quality of the beer is good, the service is excellent and the food is unpretentious. Sometime you have to wait a while for food but i have found the quality and portion size good. Overall well worth a visit to this charming, well run, friendly village pub.

Red Lion, Badlesmere

A recent mid week visit here was slightly dissapointing with 3 out of 6 handpumps on dispensing Masterbrew, Sheps Festival Beer and one other which wasn't anything to write home about although they were drinkable. This is the third visit this year and each one has been slightly dissapointing with pumps underutilised and poor selection. If you are in the area its worth travelling on to faversham.

The Coal Hole, Strand

A good example of a Nicholson's pub which regularly serves a good pint - tribute, doom and Jaipur seem to always be on and served well. Festival ales also usually on. Slightly more expensive than other Nicholson's but that is what you expect on the Strand. Worth a stop-off on the way from the Harp to the Edgar Wallace.
