Cord Bar, Manchester

Last came in here a while back when it was quite a small cramped place with the big cord booths. Now opened up into a decent space playing quality soul on our visit. Downstairs looked like it could be a great venue in the evenings.

The Temple, Manchester

Already a bit of a must visit on a crawl around town. Great atmosphere and brilliant music.

The Town Hall Tavern, Manchester

Good atmosphere in here when I was in last Saturday night. Busy but not crowded. Landlord was on and it wasn't bad. Live entertainment in the shape of a fella with a guitar singing Irish songs went down well. Decor a bit clinical and bland but overall a decent boozer.

Sam's Chop House, Manchester

Well decorated and cosy City Centre boozer. Always reminds me of Cheers for the steps down to it and the semi circular bar! Restaurant area in the back bit.

The Highland Laddie, Mossley

Shows the footy - good outside decking area for the smokers. Ideal for a pint before watching a game at Mossley FC

The Hanging Gate Inn, Weaverham

Best pub in Weaverham by far. Two rooms, bar side for pool and TV and a comfy lounge room. Real ale and food as well as a big outside garden for the summer months.

The Chandos, Trafalgar Square

Popped in here for lunch with the folks as they were down in London for a visit. Recommend always heading upstairs as its definitely more cosy and relaxing. Usual Sam Smiths selection beer wise and a good, reasonably priced food selection. Quick and effecient service. Top stuff!

Unicorn Inn, Canterbury

Had a Decent pint of Masterbrew in here waiting to catch my train. Very busy when I visited by not uncomfortably so. Good mix of locals and students and the bar staff were very quick to serve.

Thomas Becket, Canterbury

Comfy, welcoming pub with a back room that seemed set up for food. Decent pint & attentive bar staff just off the main drag.

The Parrot, Canterbury

A cracking old school pub with a good selection of ale. The Youngs Gold on my visit was well kept and flavoursome. There seemed to be quite a few people eating and by the looks of it the food was good. Bar staff were attentive and helpful. Will definitey be going back in here the next time I'm in the neighbourhood.

The Jolly Sailor, Canterbury

Seems to be very much aimed at the 1 a shot student brigade. Left the majority of my pint as I'm not a fan of drinking vinegar.

The Cricketers, Canterbury

Went in here on Good Friday and have to say the place impressed me. The Spitfire was well kept and the food selection was extensive. The Steak Huffkin was lovely and the Irish guy behind the bar couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming.

The Woodman, Highgate

Ventured in here the other Sunday to watch the football. 3 Ales on and a great sunday lunch menu meant we stayed in here long after the final whistle. Very cosy and welcoming interior with fire and sofas at one end.

Jetlag Sports Bar, Fitzrovia

Quite a good bar with a good selection of food and cocktails but no ale. Downstairs has a club feel to it but advertised as showing sports. Fits well into the area if you like that sort of thing but for real ale then you need to look elsewhere.

The Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak

Quality ale house with an excellent ranges of beers. Overjoyed to see them serving Mild as I hadn't had a pint of it since moving down south. The Porters & Stouts are are treat as well. Cosy one room pub with real fire and great atmosphere. Only problem is that its next to the bus stop I get off on my way home so I'm drawn in everytime!

The City Pride, Clerkenwell

Good for the football and the Guinness is top notch.

31 Mar 2010 16:17

The Faltering Fullback, Finsbury Park

A real gem - brilliant jukebox and quality Guinness!

Ye Olde Mitre Inne, Barnet

Very cosy & welcoming as well as having a great range of ale. I was in here the other week before & after watching Barnet FC & the roaring fire in the back room was very welcome in helping me defrost!

The Northumberland Arms, Fitzrovia

Handy for after work drinks if you're in the area - but fairly functional rather than atmospheric....

The Bay Horse, Manchester

Top...

The Garden Gate, Hampstead Heath

Agree with Lucyleftfoot...great pub but at the right time. Favourite stop off after an weekend afternoon autumnal walk on the Heath.

16 Oct 2009 16:01

The Montagu Pyke, Charing Cross Road

The ale is cheap and its an ok space....par for the course.

The Lyric, Soho

Thankfully this place is still open and as welcoming as ever. On my last visit the other day, the Timmy Taylor was in fine shape & the service was prompt. If I'm meeting mates in town I always suggest this place as a starter.

The Oxford, Kentish Town

Been in here a few times now and each time the place has impressed. The Doom Bar & Timmy Taylor were both excellent and the food was spot on as well.

16 Oct 2009 13:20

The Junction Tavern, Kentish Town

I haven't eaten in here but as far as the selection of beer is concerned, there is none better in the area.

16 Oct 2009 13:17

The Dartmouth Arms, Dartmouth Park

In favour of the recent refurbishment and always a good place for a decent pint. Guest ales are a bonus (Cains Mild was on a few weeks ago). One critisism is that sometimes the food does take too long to arrive but, that said, worth popping in if you're in the area.

16 Oct 2009 13:10

The Ship, Soho

Brilliant tunes are a given in here....but the service is without doubt the best in London, even when the bar is mobbed you're never left waiting long.....

16 Oct 2009 12:59

The Assembly House, Kentish Town

I went in here on Saturday and have to say the bar staff were polite & friendly. Maybe I got them on a good day judging by some of the comments on here but no complaints about them. The food was good too (if a bit on the expensive side.) Spacious with good decor.

Tufnells, Tufnell Park

Never knew what to make of this place at first. Walked past it many a time but from the outside there's no way of knowing if inside its welcoming or dodgy. Went to the new comedy night there on Saturday nights & was pleasantly surprised. It's a huge place with comfy, leather sofas & a dancefloor. Definitely would recommend a visit.

3 Apr 2008 13:57

Bar Lorca, Tufnell Park

This place is brilliant. Laid back, cosy atmosphere & the tapas are fantastic.

3 Apr 2008 13:54

The Albany, Great Portland Street

Gets far too rammed for comfort.

3 Apr 2008 13:37

Ben Crouch's Tavern, Fitzrovia

Great location, great music...can get a bit packed because of that but well worth it.
