Cambrinus, Bruges

A great pub made better by the fact that it's open all week - so for all you arriving in Bruges on a Monday Winter evening and looking for somewhere open to eat, this is the place. Must be the best beer list in town and they always have the range of Westvleteren beers on. Don't leave Bruges without tasting them as they are seldom equalled and never bettered.

Cafe Vlissinghe, Bruges

Good pub and gardens. Probably a bit light on beer choice but always has the Popperinge Hommel bier which is an excellent one. Have always been during the day - must be more atmospheric on an evening.

The Dog Inn, Peover Heath

Came across this little gem in my Camra beer guide as an alternative place to stay rather than the plastic hotels on the motorway corridor. Not disappointed and have been coming back ever since. Great beers and food and five or six comfy rooms to stay in.

The Crown and Trumpet Inn, Broadway

Good place to stay and to eat in. Beer range excellent - the Taylor's Landlord is exquisite and travels really well from Keighley. Well kept beers in general compared to other Broadway pubs. Natives very friendly, chefs cooky.

The Falkland Arms, Great Tew

Treat yourself and stay the night but make it a Monday to avoid the crowds. Now do evening meals which are excellent. Beer choice equally as good. Treat yourself to a clay pipe plus half an ounce of one of their great aromatic baccies. Good low key incidental lighting and no jukebox. If there's a better pub in England then I've yet to find it.

Star Inn, Upper Cumberworth

New landlord since October hence improvement in beer quality - beers include Tetleys & Black Sheep with Deuchars IPA the current guest beer. Good quiz night with food.

The Sair Inn, Linthwaite

Tucked out of the way but worth the trip if you can find a tee-totaller to drive (you need a good hand brake on your car). Great range of beers and a good roaring fire in Winter.

The Golden Cock, Farnley Tyas

Pretentious. Avoid it!

The Slubbers Arms, Huddersfield

Cosy as it's little bigger than your front room but well worth the trip for the quality of the Tim Taylor's Landlord.

The Rat and Ratchet, Huddersfield

THE pub in and around the town centre to drink. Great beer good jukebox, good range of people, unpretentious.

The Head of Steam, Huddersfield

Good meeting place, late night drinking but beer quality variable as is the service. Agree with other posts that Station Tavern at other end of station has quality beer on tap at all times although all my female friends refer to it as the Tramps pub. Lunchtime meal service at HOS is abject.

Belgian Bar, Altrincham

A great Belgian bar here in the north of England. No vertical drinking, beers served at the table in their original glasses - it's almost as good at Brugges. The range of draught Belgian beers is excellent. A little gem.

't Brugs Beertje, Bruges

Best pub I've encountered on the European mainland. Great atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, superb range of Belgian beers although you have to be lucky to find the Westvleteren. Once you leave you'll always want to come back.
