Used to be a good pub but it has now been closed for a number of years. Now a restaurant.

The Pierhead Tavern, Lamlash

Visited in June 2009. No ale but the Guinness was good and at �2.95 a pint the cheapest I found on the island. Staff were friendly and efficient. My pint was topped up without needing to ask. Comfy place with friendly locals. Not a bad place to be.

Duncans Bar, Brodick

Visited this outlet in June 2009. It has changed its name to Mac's Bar and is now part of the McLaren Hotel. Of the three ales I tried only one kept its head for more than a few minutes. I was not greatly impressed.

The Ormidale Hotel, Brodick

Visited this outlet in June 2009. Had a pint of red squirrel, not on handpump, which I was not very keen on. Nothing wrong with it, just not to my taste. The bar was cosy and well appointed. Barman was chatty but not intrusive. A comfortable place to spend some time.

The Brodick Bar, Brodick

Visited in June 2009. Deuchars IPA, not on handpump. Beer was okay but pricey at �3.30. This seems to be normal for the island. Lacking an atmosphere, probably because it was afternoon and there was a shortage of customers. Barman was friendly with good information about the island which he was happy to share.

The Breadalbane Hotel, Kildonan

This outlet was demolished in May 2009 to make way for housing.
