The Marble Arch, Manchester

A must visit - superb tiled interior, sloping floor, great atmosphere and in house brewed beer.

Lloyds No. 1, Manchester

On various visits have been
refused admission - lone mid-40s trouble maker in jeans maybe
unable to get a beer as they were all 'off' despite the pump clips being displayed
served rubbish

Avoid.

The Grey Horse Inn, Manchester

Great city centre 'local'.

Always a good pint of Hydes, esp. mild, the intimate atmosphere, unusual size, toilets etc. make it a must visit.

Bar Fringe, Manchester

Add Pinball table to the features - that alone makes this a great bar.

Superb range of Belgian and other continental beers put this in my top 10 in Manchester. As others have noted the Real Ale can be variable.

Great jukebox - some times too loud - but the bar has a great atmosphere especially when busy and should be visited at least once to see if it is you glass of lambic.

The Beer House, Manchester

This great pub is well on the way back as others have mentioned.

Paul and Sue (the landlord/landlady) have in the last few days taken the lease over from a pub management company and are intent to returning this gem to it's former glories.

Some 16 or so pumps are installed and the number of beers on varies from 5 or 6 on a quiet week day to the full house on a busy weekend.

Not just a tickers pub - they are aiming to provide classic beers that we all know and love.

Phone number and CC facilites no longer apply and at present food is only available by prior arrangment.
