Deacons, Salisbury

Great pub selling good range of beers and lagers at low prices without compromising quality.

Bar staff are excellent, but avoid Sunday afternoons as you'll have to wait while the barmaid finishes sending her text message!!!!!

The Village Inn, Shanklin

Good Ventnor Brewery ales. Food is excellent and big portions. Regular live music.

The Chine Inn, Shanklin

Probably one of the most beautiful locations on ythe Island for a pub.

Perched above Shanklin Chine on the sea side it sells good beer and excellent food.

The Crab Inn, Shanklin

Pretty pub featured on the jigsaws, chocolate boxes etc. Not a good pub for beer though.

King Harry's Bar (Glenbrook Hotel), Shanklin

Great selection of real ales and 'good' lagers. Great setting and not as plastic as the pub nearby ie the Crab.

The Clarendon, Shanklin

Now demolished and a block of flats.

Lord John, Stroud

Went in here and bought a pint of Marstons pedigree, very often a good pint (elsewhere). It looked like a pint of mud. Took it back to the bar, held it up to show how bad it was and was given a other pint and asked for 1.49 again.( yes it was that cheap).

Said this pint was not drinkable as it looked like mud and was told by the young barmaid it was 'real ale'!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what real ale looks like said I and this ain't it. After a conflab with the manager she came back , shrugged her shoulders and carried on serving. I'll dine out on this one for ages.

A pub and Weatherspoons to be avoided in favour of some better pubs in the town.

The Bridge Inn, Upper Woodford

Superb location for a pub next to river and in the Avon valley bottom.

Always 2 real ales on and normally in good condition and at 2.50 a pint not bad for a lot of Salisbury pubs.

Food is expensive but you're getting a top class chef/landlord who used to work in the Conran restaurants. Never had a duff meal there and unlikely to do so

The Wyndham Arms, Salisbury

I've lived all round the country and I can honestly say this is the best pub I've been in. There is always a good selection of beer on tap which is perfectly kept by the landlord.

There ai an eclectic mix of customers including the brewery's MD, head brewer and sales manager. Great place to wind down and wind people up (nicely though!)
