The Piccadilly Tavern, Manchester

I visited this pub on 2nd February along with about 25 other friends who used to work together at Butlins Minehead many years ago. Our ages ranged from mid 50s to early 60s so we are not rowdy lager and shots drinkers. We met just after 13.00 and had been in there about six hours, so you can imagine the amount of money that had been spent! I was wearing a trilby as is my want and a bloke who worked the door came up to me and said "Take that hat off" to which I replied "Pardon" to which he said " I said take that hat off NOW or I'm throwing you out" His attitude put a real spoiler on all of us so we just upped and went. What a disgraceful way to treat people also the beer was no more than average to be honest. Shocking attitude to people who were no threat to anyone.I would recommend total avoidance of this place and how it got into the Good Beer| Guide is a mystery to me

The Grafton Hotel, Worksop

Visited this pub yesterday on a visit to Worksop.Possibly the best I went in.Very friendly landlady who was understandably chuffed they had made the Good Beer Guide for the first time and quite right. Six top quality real ales on and at 1.70 a pint remarkable value. They also brew their own.Accommodation is also available.Highly recommended

The Port Customs Bar, Stirling

Me and a mate called in recently while in the area to watch Stenhousemuir and found the place very friendly. Got talking to some people, most of whom were avidly watching the racing on one of the several screens but they still hade time to pass the time of day.Good friendly pub.
