Visited the George today for lunch and was very disappointed with the food a curry made from left over beef and a bowl of tomato soup which tasted like a cuppa soup, to be fair it was not expensive and the service was good and friendly, we sat in the sunny rear garden which was nice.

Visited this pub for lunch on Good Friday and had a warm welcome and an excellent value bar meal (main course 7). Our visit coincided with their Easter Beer Festival and there was a huge choice of real ales with everything at 2.50 a pint.

Gave this pub a try after seeing the reviews, but was very disappointed with the real ales today. Decent enough old fashioned pub, but it was absolutely freezing cold & expensive.
I decided to take a walk round to The New Inn in Easton and found it lovely and warm with wood burner roaring. The real ales were excellent too. Decided on a spot of lunch which was good value and delicious.
Would recommend The New Inn.

This has become the best pub on Portland ... I love the rooms and the friendly welcome. The food is basic but very good. I would recommend the Sunday Lunch. Enjoy

Continues to go from strength to strength. Always a warm welcome, always good real ale selection. The guys running the place really are establising it back as the heart of the community, how a traditional pub should be!!

Just been refurbished and its going from strength to strenght! 3 ales on stillage plus 2 handpumps allow an ever changing range of guest ales.

Basic pub food available Thursdays to Saturdays and its very family friendly.

To add to what Roarth reported: beer improved overnight, new tenants very pro-active and are in the process of gaining cask marque acreditation. Abbot and Speckled Hen on hand pump. Further stillage will be on stream later in the year

Oh Dear!
Real Ale very indifferent and expensive, no one else in and truly hideous pumps on the bar!! A great shame as it could be a little gem.

There were 3 ales on when I visited on a cold Monday night in December. Good pub but a shame there was no sports on the telly

Frequented many a time! Being a real ale drinker, I look for variety. Although not a lot of variety on at all times(maybe 2), The pints i had were great, crystal clear!
A locals pub but made to feel very welcome by all the staff i have met!
