The Faulkners Arms, Altrincham

The Malt & Apple has now closed and it is some sort of Irish Bar

The Gardeners Arms, Timperley

Re-opened and refurbished without losing its character. Serving food.
Much improved and heading back to its former glory; many of the locals returning along with new faces.
Finger's crossed it keeps the momentum up.

The Gardeners Arms is changing hands again, but this time with a promise of some money being spent on it.
Due to close for the whole of March, re-opening in April.

Fingers crossed, the new landlord/lady are locals and know the area and clientele.

Costellos, Altrincham

Excellent addition to the real ale scene in Altrincham, the bar is run and sells beers by the nearby Dunham Massey Brewery.
My only complaint is the low ceiling that if the pub is crowded makes it difficult to hold a conversation.

The Stamford Arms, Little Bollington

This pub is closed

Ye Olde No 3 Inn, Little Bollington

This pub is now closed.

Brewery Tap, Lymm

Excellent new addition to Lymm's pub scene. The Bridgewater Blonde is to die for.

The Green Dragon, Lymm

This pub is now more of a restaurant than a pub, if you just want a drink I wouldn't bother.

The Bridge Inn, Altrincham

THIS PUB IS NOW CLOSED!

The Victoria, Altrincham

Definitely a restaurant. NOT a pub!

Good meals are available, but I preferred it when you could play chess and draughts here.

Restaurant - 7/10
Pub - 1/10

Y Branwen, Harlech

Went in a few times over the previous weekend; friendly pub, serves good beer and chatty bar staff.
Restaurant is good too.

The Gardeners Arms, Timperley

For those of you complaining about opening hours, they are now displayed (admittedly inside the pub)
It appears to open at 14:00 most days and go on until 23:00, late drinks on Thursday (23:30), Friday (24:00) and Saturday(01:00)

The Boddies has been very good this weekend.

I think you are being a bit unfair, Mobilesid.
For a long time this pub has been shut in the afternoon on a weekday; the market is just not there. I can understand your frustration, but look at it from the pubs point of view, it is not on a main road and doesn't serve food, if it is to remain open all afternoon it has to pay staff, light and heat the buiding. It is not worth it.
It is no super pub, but not worth writing off as you say you will. Try it on a Thursday evening when there is a quiz; Friday teatime is always busy too.

I can agree with you about marketing the pub, never understood that, even before the flats were there, it has undergone a bit of a makeover and once the new smoking shelter is fitted it should be complete. Perhaps that is the time to market.

The pub is changing hands again. Eric and June are leaving and heading to The Station in Bromley Cross.

Fingers crossed for good management taking over.

The Railway, Hale

Excellent, very busy local pub.
Proof that the smoking ban did not destroy pubs.

The Black Bull, Ripon

Not impressed; called in briefly after visit to Fountains Abbey; beer horrible (Why do they sell bitter "extra cold"!)staff initially ignored us.

Royal Oak, Ripon

Called in after a visit to Fountains Abbey; staff very friendly, Timothy Taylor's Landlord sublime, food excellent.

Highly recommended.

Yes, the pub duly opened at 8:00pm on Friday evening.
I went in for the first time yesterday evening.
Pub looks cleaner, new landlord, Eric, seems nice enough, I spoke to him more in 2-hours than I did to the last landlord in 2-years.

Hopefully, this is the beginning of the revival of this pub.

According to the new Landlord it will re-open tomorrow (2nd February) or more likely Saturday (3rd)

See you in there.

The Maltings, York

Visited this pub just before Xmas. As usual a fine atmosphere and good ales.

One big downer was the attitude of one of the bar staff. We arrived after they had stopped serving food (We had asked for a menu), so I politely asked if I could buy a couple of sandwiches from elsewhere and bring them into the pub. I received a rude, negative reply.

I left the pub and went to eat and drink elsehwere

Appears to be getting ready to re-open.
Much activity inside the pub.

Fingers crossed

The Cricketers Arms Pub, Orlando

Grief, I can't believe this is listed here.
It was my local when I did the Disney thing with the kids some 10-years ago.
It was a haven in a foreign place. Darts was available and I remember watching Man Utd on the screen

The Maltings, York

Excellent pub, spent a few days in York just before Christmas, this became our local.
Beer superb, food excellent - real chips!!!
Staff - a good laugh.

The Red Lion, Bredwardine

Situated about half-way between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye this roadside inn offers excellent food and drink.
The pub controls about 5-miles of fishing on the nearby River Wye and in the evening it is frequented by anglers.
A log fire dominates the bar in the winter. Beer garden in the back
Well worth a stop, don't be put off by the drab exterior.

The Moss Trooper, Timperley

If you like pubs for kids and families this is ok...but no atmosphere at all.
If you want to stand round and show off your latest designer gear this is the place for you.
Beers can be ok, but more like a bar than a pub.
I can't stand those sofa type seats that you can't get out of, I must be getting old

The Briton's Protection Hotel, Castlefield

Just read the comment about it being a Private Members Club or something of that sort.
No it isn't, but they do shut the doors when the football crowds are dispersing. So if you have struggled to get in on a Saturday evening at about 5:00pm that could be the reason.
Cracking pub, please frequent it, don't let them change it.
