The Woolpack, Brookland

Would agree with the two previous comments. Had a holiday nearby recently and found the pub to be friendly and well run on both occasions. On the evening we had food the meals were large and impressive! Excellent quality and probably one of the best steaks I've had in a long while. Kids enjoyed their meals too - macaroni cheese described as delicious! Sausages described as -'Dad you've got to try one of these!' Stilton/pasta bake was soooooo stiltony. Beer super and the staff are beautifully efficient. A 'must' if in the area.

The Union Inn, Rye

We had a week holiday near Rye and we only got to the Union on the one occasion. Beer choice was limited but excellent quality. Family friendly.

The Ship Inn, Rye

Had a week holiday in nearby Winchelsea Beach and visited the Ship on 2 occasions. Both times the food was excellent. As we had 2 kids with us it can be difficult at times to find food that they'll eat but the Ship came up trumps. As for the adult's meals we had steak & kidney pudding/liver & bacon/tuna pasta bake and a few other things besides - ALL without exception were truly superb. As for the real ale the choice was either a Harveys beer or Youngs bitter - both very drinkable. The place might benefit from a couple of extra beers from a more exotic location but you can't have everything. The staff were reasonable approachable and seemed OK to me and looked after us quite well.

The Duke of Wellington, Norwich

Went on Saturday lunchtime and had a wonderful experience. Excellent beers and lots of space to drink in - comments below mean it obviously gets a bit packed later.

Trafford Arms, Norwich

Wide range of real ales and friendly staff. Beer quality 10/10

The Ketts Tavern, Norwich

Nice outside drinking area and super beer festival last weekend. A 'must visit' when in the city.
Lunchtime/Sunday menu looks to use local reared meat. Sounds like a good idea.

The Rosary Tavern, Norwich

A nice locals pub that welcomes everyone. Good range of beer and worth a visit. Barmaid was friendly and attentive unlike the misery down the hill at the Adam & Eve.

The Ribs of Beef, Norwich

Excellent pub. Loads of real ale and the staff were friendly. Good mix of locals.

The Adam and Eve, Norwich

Although I didn't stay in the pub long enough to have extended dealings with the staff, I thought them unhelpful. Normally when taking in a couple of pubs I like to have an occasional glass of water (to thin things out a bit - sensible drinking and all that). We ordered our drinks but when I asked for a drop of H20 I was told quite definately that 'we don't do that sort of thing'. I could of course buy a bottle of the stuff from a nice 'spring' nicely packaged said the girly behind the bar. Interesting I thought... How do they manage the washing up? If I ordered a whiskey, presumably I would have to buy a bottle of water if I required it thinning out!

All in all - a nice pub to look at but no atmos and a frosty front put up by the staff. Probably won't bother again.

The Brewery Tap, Peterborough

Good range of beers from the onsite brewery and beyond.

Summer time.... don't wear shorts at the weekend as you won't get in.

Strugglers Inn, Lincoln

Good pub run by landlord and landlady of the 'old school'. Banter with locals and visitors alike.

Beer garden looks good and there are notices about the pub to discourage any misuse of the flower beds.

Proper pub, proper beer.

The Victoria, Lincoln

Truly superb boozer. Good beer and staff vertical.

Treaty of Commerce, Lincoln

Visited early Saturday evening. One barman on duty who was chatty and friendly. Not sure how busy this place gets but was quite impressed with the atmos.

Full range of Bateman's beers, the one I had was 10/10.

The Adam and Eve Tavern, Lincoln

Very nice looking old pub from outside but was more of a nightclub within.

Real ale was surprisingly good and the staff were excellent. Just not my kind of place really..
